As most of you probably know already, when Lauder Lass was first seen by her admirers, her neck was thin, her ribs – well you could just about have played the piano on them, that is if you could have got any where near her! Her head looked far, far too big for her body and her ears, well they looked something very similar to donkey ears! in fact to sum her up, in the early days she looked completely out of proportion, with her hip bones just about being as pointy as two carrots poking out of her skin and her breast bone looked not far off the same.
From the previous posts you may also have read that it took an age to not only get any where near her body but to touch her took even longer. However, as time has gone on and her faith in the human race increased, she now adores the comfort of the human touch, to the point she now falls asleep instead of dashing in to a corner out of fear and pretending to be asleep.
As can be seen by the first photo below, we often hold her feed bucket and this certainly has helped her to have confidence in us, where as before it was almost as if she had, in her past life, been cajoled in to eating and by the way she reacted initially when we first came across her, it was as if she had experienced some form of infliction of pain and connected food with the same, hence why we think she refused to eat. So to see her now feeling at ease or relaxed when eating is truly a complete joy.
From the picture below you can see her accepting her ears being tweaked without a fear of them being yanked or hurt. When you do this with her, the sense of trust and joy is overwhelming and really makes you think that all the time her visitors and us have spent on her has been 100% worthwhile. You may know that warm sensation you get from a warming hot water bottle, well the feeling when you manage to achieve each new step of her confidence is as heart warming and an experience many never ever forget.
Lauder Lass, you really have gone way beyond everyone’s expectations of you, well done Lady, you deserve an animal medal for the courage you have had to regain your faith in human kind.
With a million thanks also to all her visitors and followers who have given her the time to heal. As the saying goes, time is the greatest healer.
